Karla told me about a TV programme that she was featured in - a series that followed people who had moved to "foreign lands" to start a different life. I watched the episode about Karla's life. Whilst the cameraman was scrolling around her house, I noticed the paintings on her walls. I knew she was a technology teacher, but hadn't realised she was also an artist. One in particular caught my eye. It was the cutest pair of kissing giraffes. She mentioned in the programme that she often painted these animals kissings as wedding gifts. WOW, I thought, "how original!" And I had a wedding coming up, of two very "individual " people who I thought would appreciate such a gift. They are a couple, who I sort of co-erced into seeing each other. As soon as they got it together it was like WOW now we can't keep them apart. They were constantly kissing and cuddling, sometimes whilst in mid-conversation. I decided to commission Karla to paint me some kissing giraffes for the wedding day. I was extremely happy with the painting. The necks of the giraffes made an almost perfect heart shape. It made a quirky but very romantic gift, as it embodied their passion for each other. I think it's great to be able to express your feelings about people you really like in a work of art. It's so much more personal, which makes it more appreciated.
The happy couple opened the painting during their wedding day lunch in December 08 and were very touched & really pleased with it.
The wedding guests thought it was a cute & original present, which matched the newlyweds perfectly.
